Exceptional Service and Dining Experience

Our stay was nothing short of amazing! The food was out of this world, especially the creative tasting menu that showcased seasonal ingredients. The staff were attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The only downside was the tricky access route which might be hard to navigate, but once you're there, it's a serene escape.

Had a fantastic getaway with friends. The area is stunning with timbered houses and waymarked trails through beautiful woods. We enjoyed cozy evenings at the lodge and exceptional meals. Highly recommend the restaurant! Just note it's a bit off the main road, but worth it for the experience.

The bar's menu limited, just one choice for draught beer, and the folks behind the counter seemed to lack basic knowledge about their own offerings, like Armagnac. While it’s labeled a 'restaurant with rooms,' it lacks some of the full hotel facilities that might be expected given the room rates, making it a slightly unconventional choice for a longer stay.

everything about old downton lodge was exceptional. the room was spacious and very comfy, the staff were all delightful, and the food was amazin. we stayed for 5 nights and the kitchen never missed a trick, each meal was a masterpiece. the gardens were lovely to sit in with a drink in the evening sunshine.

The hotel’s charming, characterful building and beautiful gardens created a serene atmosphere that I found enchanting. The welcoming staff made everything accessible, ensuring I felt comfortable throughout my stay.

More seating in dining area would be beneficial.
